Pretty casual top!
I bought this in petite XL. I usually wear a large, but some things are just too long, and they told me to go up a size if I was going to try the petite, which worked out well. This hangs nicely, without looking baggy. For reference, I am 5’5”, 150 lbs, carry most of my weight in my belly.

The fit is true to size and allows room for the top to drape your body and not cling. I have large breasts and the top fit perfectly. The material is very soft and comfortable. I wish they made this top in other colors.

is this a loose fit? how does it wash? does it shrink
The top is loosely styled for comfort. The care instructions are machine wash and reshape by laying it flat to dry. There should be a very minimal amount of shrinkage if the care instructions in the garment are followed. .

There appears to be a black inset on the side of this top, is it a strip up the side or is the back solid color?
Yes, the top has an extra piece of fabric on the sides. The back is striped identical to the front.
