We believe the beauty of classic style is that it can be worn differently by everyone, which is why we're excited to share our Fall Classics Guest Editor, Beth Djalali of Style at a Certain Age. Read on to see how she styled her favorite Talbots Classics with her personal modern classic twist.

Fall Classics What makes a classic a classic?

There's been plenty of discussion on this topic since the inception of the blog. Because one thing is crystal clear: this girl has loved classic style since my first blazer slipped over my shoulders as a young teenager. That one gray blazer started a love affair with timeless, tailored, and elegant clothes that endures to this day. I know many of you feel the same way about classic style as I do. It's one reason I've shopped at Talbots since my twenties. I've come to rely on this brand to deliver those timeless pieces I love year after year.

Are you ready for the top ten list?
Model wearing Ponte blazer and slim ankle jean The perfect Ponte blazer and slim ankle jean

Since my love affair with classic style began all those years ago with a blazer it's only fitting that I kick this off wearing a Perfect Ponte Blazer. It's a trusted, timeless piece I reach for time and time again because blazers add instant polish to any outfit, including denim.

The Slim Ankle Jean is an easy silhouette that flatters every body. They're an essential wardrobe staple of mine. Today, I added a striped tee for contrast underneath the black Ponte blazer, black ankle boots with an easy low stacked heel, and quilted leather hobo bag.

Today's outfit starts with a timeless Ponte Pencil Skirt in a bold color—red. It's tailored to perfection yet this skirt is so forgiving as it's crafted from refined Ponte fabric that skims your body and hides any imperfections.

The Ponte Sheath dress in a neutral color is a blank canvas. And that's where the fun comes in as you can add or subtract accessories to your heart's content. Pop a blazer over the top for a polished nine-to-five look or let it fly solo accompanied by a chic scarf and statement handbag.
